Carouselâ has been a mainstay of the Pittsburgh rock scene since its very first show in 2011, sharing the stage with localâ rock, metal and punk bands as wellâ as touring acts such as Mount Carmel, Purling Hiss and Disappears, all the whileâ demonstrating an earth-shaking ability to rock with each and every liveâ performance.â â Carousel'sâ Wheelerâ andâ Legerâ (drummer for Pittsburgh indie-rock icons Karl Hendricks Trio) were previously members of noise-rock trio Magicâ Wolf, whileâ second guitaristâ Chris Tritschlerâ also plays in the PGH metal band Lady Beast. Withâ Carousel's strong pedigree, instantly-memorable two-guitarâ harmonized lines (not so much like Iron Maiden, more like Wishbone Ash or Thin Lizzy) and rhythmicâ swing (or "Bill Ward-isms"), the band can easily hold theâ interest of punk and metal fans, but add in the charismatic vocals ofâ Wheeler, and it also fits right in at a local yinzer bar. â The band's name is drawn from theâ futuristic sci-fi movie "Logan's Run"â and the device in the film that terminates young citizens once they reach the ripe age of 30.â Carouselâ is the epitome of guitar rock. Based solely on the buzz from the successful self-release ofâ Tears of Stone, theirâ debut 12" EP,â Carouselâ was invited to join the Tee Pee Records family. â Soon to be armed with a new full-length LP,â Carouselâ now looks to make its move into the national spotlight.
