The full-length debut album from Milky Chance, 2013's Sadnecessary, showcases the German duo's stylistically varied sound. Centered on the talents of singer/songwriter Clemens Rehbein and DJ Philipp Dausch, Milky Chance make quirky, atmospheric songs that touch upon such genres as folk, reggae, and electronica. A self-produced album, Sadnecessary strikes a pleasing balance between lo-fi introspection, arty experimentation, and melodic lyricism.
